Bravo Michelle.

Parte 1
Q. You're only 16 years old. Your first Grand Slam. What's it like to have that entire stadium booing and whistling?
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: Obviously wasn't too much of a great feeling. But, you know, I think I played an unbelievable match. We both did.
It's kind of disappointing, but it's understandable, because she is a French player, and of course they want the best for their players.

Q. She was complaining about your noises. Did anybody complain in your first five matches?
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: No. She's actually the first one. I guess that was a bit of her tactic to throw me off a little bit. No, that was the first one I think ever. I played her last time in Miami. She did the same thing.
But, well, there's nothing I can really do about it.

Q. Did her tactic work?
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: Ah, of course, when she did that, the crowd was, you know, on her side when she started complaining. Of course, everybody supported her, you know, her statement to the umpire.
I mean, it threw me off a little bit, I guess, because, you know, the crowd was against me. But, you know, I guess she has to find a way to win, I guess. Got a little bit under my skin. Shouldn't have, but I'm young and I'm still learning.

Q. Still about the screaming thing. Monica Seles, Maria Sharapova, now you. Did they teach you that at the Bollettieri Academy? And if yes, why?
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: No, no. That's something natural. It's something that's part of my game. I've been doing it ever since I started playing tennis. I'm not trying to copy anybody. It's really myself out there, and it's really myself playing. No, it's got nothing to do with Bollettieri.

Q. You had an argument with the referee, as well. I think you mentioned Sharapova. Tell me about it. What was the discussion going on?
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: Yeah. I mean, I said to the umpire, you know, he doesn't tell Maria to keep quiet. You know, when she was winning she never complained. Only when I started to get my game going, I started winning games, then all of a sudden, you know, my noise is a nuisance.
So it's kind of weird that only when I start playing well is when she complained.

Q. The critics say you should lower the voice a little bit? What do you say about that?
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: I have nothing to say about that, really. It's part of my game, you know. I can't really all of a sudden stop grunting. I just can't, you know. It's just part of it.
I guess that's even if I tried I mean, I could, but, you know, it won't feel natural because it feels like it's something missing in my game if I just stop.
So, no.

Q. How do you look back on Roland Garros? Because it's been a wonderful tournament for you, I think.
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: Oh, yeah, I've had a great run here. I broke into the top 100. I think I'm 87 now, which is really great. I'm only 16. I'm in a couple of 6 0 matches down, 6 0, 3 0, and managed to come back at a Grand Slam.
It's really great that I've had a lot of experience. I think it's really going to help me in the future.

Q. Do you think if the tour said to you and Maria, for example, in six months' time we're going to introduce a rule to stop the shrieking, do you think you'd actually be able to do it if you were sort of given a warning that you'd have to sort of learn how to play without it?
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: Well, it would be kind of disappointing, because the tour already has so many rules. I don't think, if they had to do a rule that you're not allowed to shriek or scream or grunt, it wouldn't be fair because again, it's part of the game.
I'm 16; I'm still learning. Maybe I can eventually put it under control. I don't know. I'll try, but, you know, it's I don't know. I hope not, of course, because, you know, it comes from Monica Seles, comes from Sharapova, comes from really great players. I don't know.

Q. Do you watch your matches back on DVD?
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: I haven't recently. I do sometimes go on to YouTube and go to some of my matches. Not all the time.

Q. What do you think when you hear it?
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: Nothing, really. I'm just watching myself play. It's me. It's me that I'm seeing playing, so nothing, really.

Q. Apologies if you've answered this already, but does the grunting help you get into the stroke and give you a rhythm at all?
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: It does. Truthfully, it actually does. It's almost like a rhythm, like when I hit a forehand or hit a backhand, the grunting is almost like a split step. It's part of my stroke. I don't know what else I can say, really.

Q. Feels good?
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: Yeah. Feels good, because when I don't grunt, it just feels weird because it's just not me.

Q. For those of you who haven't watched you play as a junior very much, does this come up in junior matches in the past with people complaining?
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: No, never.

Q. Has anyone ever complained to a referee during a match you've played before?
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: No. Truthfully, she's the only one, really. She did last time in Miami. She did again. No.

Q. Twelve double faults. How much do you have to improve your serve to compete at this level?
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: Definitely a lot. Serve has always been something I need to work on. Always been kind of a weak spot, really. It's something I really need to work on. Always has been.
I think, again, I'm just young, and I just need something there are some things I need to improve on. I think I will be able to, because, like my previous matches, I actually served quite well.
I've just got to keep strong and keep on working.

Q. Have you ever been bothered by an opponent who made a lot of noise or by playing on a court beside somebody who was making a lot of noise?
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: No, I actually have watched some matches where the girls actually grunt quite loudly. It doesn't bother me. I actually played it was actually in Tashkent, the match next to me they were grunting, as well. It doesn't bother me, because I do it, as well.
It would be kind of stupid if I had to complain, because I know I do it.

Q. Talk a bit about the experience of walking out on that court and so many great matches over the years. Let's talk about what went through your mind as you went out there.
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: It was really unbelievable. I really liked it. It was a really nice court, actually. The stands were actually quite full, which was pretty exciting in a way.
Yeah, it was a really great feeling when I walked in there, and I was happy to be have played a good match.

Q. Clearly you're a fine player with a great future. Is there not a fear of yours, though, that rooms like this, questions like this, will overtake your tennis throughout your career if you keep making the noise you do?
MICHELLE LARCHER DE BRITO: No, I don't think so. Not at all, because I'm a strong player. I'm a strong person. You know, I'm capable of I can handle this. I'm okay. I'm strong physically, mentally. You know, I can keep going, I'm sure.

Caro Feliciano:

Obrigado pela transcrição.

Entrevista bem complicada.
